That Boy!

Have you ever felt the agony of the orphans, little kids begging on the roadside in tattered clothes. Lets spare a moment from them.

One cold morning,
I was going to the bus stop,
When I saw a boy,
Our eyes met,
He smiled at me.
I didn’t like him one bit,
He was dirty!
He was filthy!
He was shivering with cold,
With just one blanket tattered and old.
He could not help, but shiver.
He was very thin,
With bones poking out the skin.
My eyes were riveted on his face which contained everything except flesh.
His shiny eyes betrayed his pain,
And expression cried out for love and affection,
All this didn’t let a thought flow in,
Except I could just stare at him.
Suddenly, my bus came through,
And I had to go,
He kept on staring at me without blinking a brow.
At office, my mind was not steady at all,
But thought of that poor soul,
When I returned in the evening,
He was being slapped and thrashed.
WHY????
Just because he asked for a bread.
We continued to see each other,
But there was no exchange of words,
Something brought us close,
Through eyes but not by words.
He continued to pass that bewitching smile,
And I continued to ignore.
One day I didn’t see him at the stop,
Something inside me said that all wasn’t right,
Next day I saw him being taken away,
I knew he was dead,
Dead he was!!!
My heart cried but not my eyes,
I ignored him and that was not wise.
Dear friends and colleagues,
I appeal to the masses,
I beg to you,
The mistake which I committed don’t let it be repeated,
Please spare a thought for such ignored few,
Let us be sun and help them,
Shine like morning dew!!!

My Life

I tried to understand my life, It made me fall in a maze, Where I was struggling, To figure out my own way, It was topsy-turvy, The puzzle made me cry. It seemed like a desert, Hot and dry, And I was lost in my life. I tried to understand my life, It made me drown in an ocean, With water all around, No one to see, I tried my best to swim across, But what it gave, Storms and rain, The waves got me, Took me to an island, Far away, Where I was all alone, Searching my own way. I tried to understand my life, It seemed I was thrown in a endless sky, To fight with the vacuum in my life, What I saw was a vacuum surrounding me, I was so small in the universe, I am just a small entity, Like a droplet of water in the sea, I was floating to find out a way, All alone in the endless Milky way. I tried to understand my life, With wind on my face, And bare feet, I had to go ahead to cut the forest as far as I see, I had to make my own way through the maze, I had to swim through the waves and ...

Veerana

Second one of the short poem series.  This short poem is about a lonely place which craves for someone to bring it to life. Veerana Mein ghar ke darwaze khidki khol ke rakhta hoon. Kya pata koi hawa ka jhonka kab aa jaaye. Kabhi koi chahchata, guzarte hue ruk jaaye To iss veerane main bhi chahal pahal ho jaaye. Deserted place I leave all the doors and windows of my house wide open, Don't know when a warm breeze finds its way in. Hope sometime a chirping passerby stops for a while To liven up this deserted , lonely place. Composed by: Priyank

Ashq

This poem is part of a series of short poems I wrote. I am also working towards translating them in English. The picture is one of my very good friends Aastha Gupta, clicked by her husband Siddharth Vishwanath. Ashq Hai koi dil ki tahon main , Jiski chikh sunai nahi deti, Woh ankhon se ashq ban chalak padta hai. Aakhir kab tak jeeta sunsan seene main. Tear There is someone deep within the cockles of the heart, Whose shrieks go unnoticed, Occasionally, it falls off as a tear from the eyes, After all, how long can one stay in a desolate chest.
